Phare Program – Support for Choreographic Development

SUPPORTING AND NURTURING EMERGING ARTISTS

Led by the Dispositif Récif – Karukera Ballet, Phare is a program designed to support emerging choreographers in their artistic and professional development. Conceived as a true vehicle for empowerment, Phare offers artists structured, attentive, and tailored guidance, where human connection and co-construction hold a central place.

A SENSITIVE APPROACH

Phare is not a traditional production structure.
It’s a personalized support program based on listening and exchange, in order to build, with each artist, a tailor-made path.

The objective is to enable choreographers to strengthen their artistic approach, gain visibility, and develop their projects under the best possible conditions.

AREAS OF SUPPORT

According to the needs expressed by the artists, Phare can offer:

  • Networking: meetings with different actors in the choreographic field.
  • International outreach: establishment of cooperations, cross-residencies, and cultural exchanges.
  • Support for circulation: assistance with the circulation and visibility of works.
  • Structuring: support for the administrative, legal, and organizational consolidation of companies.
  • Skills development: programs enabling the acquisition of new know-how for artistic teams.

This framework remains deliberately evolving and flexible. Since each project is unique, Phare creates with the artist specific forms of support.

FOR WHOM?

The program is intended for emerging choreographic artists, that is to say choreographers who have created between 0 and 5 pieces.
For Caribbean artists, emergence is not mandatory; the Phare program reserves the right to support any artist from the territory.

No aesthetic criterion is imposed; Phare is above all committed to supporting the uniqueness of each approach and to responding to the concrete needs of those who build their own path.

While it pays particular attention to Caribbean creation, the support program is also committed to discovering artists from all backgrounds, fostering diversity and possible exchanges within Phare itself.

AN ACCESSIBLE AND SUPPORTIVE PROGRAM

Phare was designed in a spirit of public interest.

  • The majority of the services offered are free of charge, thanks to public and private funding that support the program and the structure.
  • For certain dissemination projects, a moderate commission (10 to 15% of the transfer cost) is applied, ensuring the sustainability of the program while respecting the interests of the artists.

Thus, Phare places its resources at the service of the companies, ensuring that the support remains a concrete, sustainable, and beneficial asset.

AN AMBITION: SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF TOMORROW

Phare aims to be a space for growth and new perspectives for emerging artists.

By placing listening, cooperation, and structuring at the heart of its action, the program contributes to the rise of a new generation of choreographic artists and actively participates in the enrichment of the cultural landscape.
