Call for Projects 2025

SINCE 2020, KARUKERA BALLET HAS BEEN SUPPORTING CHOREOGRAPHIC COMPANIES THROUGH ITS dispositif RéCIF, OFFERING CREATIVE RESIDENCIES AS WELL AS ARTISTIC, LOGISTICAL AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO HELP CARIBBEAN, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TALENT TO EMERGE.

This innovative program, launched by Karukera Ballet in the French overseas territories, is primarily designed to promote inter-professional and amateur exchanges, and to encourage choreographic networking in the Caribbean islands, through the articulation of its four poles (Choreography – Training – Dance School – Health).

THIS CALL FOR PROJECTS 2025 IS OPEN TO ALL SINGULAR, CONTEMPORARY CHOREOGRAPHIC WORKS. THIS YEAR, PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO EMERGING CREATION (MAXIMUM 5 PlayS IN THE REPERTOIRE).

This year, the focus is on solo choreographic writing. Through this theme, RÉCIF aims to support young choreographers in questioning the singularity of their movement, in affirming and sharing their own artistic identity.

Through the research into the singular expressions of dancing bodies, RÉCIF wishes to resonate with the history and experience of these young artists, imbued with the constraints and riches of their territories.

The choreographic body, bearer of an individual message, vector of an intimate thought, can vibrate, thanks to it, in the hearts and minds of each and everyone. A “HO’position”, reflecting a singular posture, in the contemporary artistic horizon.

Our types of residencies :

the residencies will take place between March 1st and december 31th 2025
  • ANCRAGE : provision of a studio, with a contribution of 3,000 euros.
  • AMARRAGE : provision of a studio, with a contribution of 1,500 euros
  • ACCOSTAGE : simple reception with studio rental
  • MIRAGE : help to return to work with the provision of a studio, and a deposit of 1,000 euros including all taxes. The aim of this aid is to facilitate the revival of a company’s repertoire, in order to better disseminate existing works and/or to compensate for the need to reprise a role due to a case of force majeure.

Each residency gives you access to a shared administrative workspace. Depending on requirements, residency durations (between 1 and 3 weeks depending on the reception program) may vary on request and agreement with Dispositif Récif.

Airfare support is available for companies out the territory.

Communications support is also provided (photo and/or video shoots).

These residencies are open to emerging and established companies, national or international, with the aim of supporting projects with a singular writing.

Particular attention will be paid to companies from the Caribbean and to creations linked to the region.

Selected projects may also benefit from artistic and/or administrative support as part of RHIZOMES, La Mangrove’s support program.

In return for the residency, and with a view to transmission and training, companies will be asked to offer a 1H30 workshop (EAC and/or ERD).

In order to develop links between the artists and the public, restitutions will be organized for each project.

Performances take place on the last Saturday of each residency.
